The Kavtaradze family dates back to the 7th century.
In the seventh century there was a reign of princes and dukes
in Caucasus. Namely two families fought each other to gain power
and territory. They were called Baratashvilij and Bagrationi. The
dispute ended with the Bagrationy family getting support from Aphasia
and some Jews in the nearby area, which lead to a joint victory
over the Baratashvilij family. Sometime in the 7'th century the
Baratashvilij family had a son who was named Kavtar, and Kavtars
sons became the Kavtaradze dynasty line.
In other words, all Kavtaradzes in the world originate from
the ancient Georgian duke Kavtar, who lived in a small village called
Pasanauri.
These facts were brought to our notice at the last KAVTARADZE
summit, held in October 2000, in Georgia, where 5000 Kavtaradze
family members, merely from Georgia, were present. To this date
there has not been held a joint world wide Kavtaradze meeting...
If we were to do so, I couldn't even imagine how many family members
we would be able to raise...?! Ouch!!
